This time, I traveled to JAPAN with an open heart, a curious appetite, and a deep desire to learn.
I took cooking classes, researched and explored markets and food traditions. I sat down for countless meals. I asked questions, tasted, listened, observed — and, of course, ate my way across the country. And somewhere along the way, this book began to take shape.
Japanese cuisine has such a beautiful sense of balance — the harmony of flavor, texture, simplicity, seasonality, and intention. I wanted to honor that spirit while creating recipes that reflect the way I love to eat and cook.
So I took the dishes and flavors that inspired me most and made them my own — plant-based, gluten-free, nourishing, clean, approachable, and achievable from just about anywhere in the world.
My hope is that you don't need a specialty kitchen or a suitcase full of hard-to-find ingredients to experience the magic. You simply need a willingness to cook, explore, taste, and connect.
For me, this series has never really been just about cookbooks. It’s about food education. It’s about learning from the cultures that nourish us. It’s about using food as a way to bridge cultures, spark curiosity, create connection, and bring us home to our own body, mind, and spirit.
Every book in this series has taken me somewhere new — geographically, creatively, and personally. And with each one, I’m reminded that food has this incredible ability to tell stories and bring people together, even when we come from completely different places.
